Bye Bye Vietnam
We woke and checked out of our hotel. They were nice enough to book a taxi to the airport and store our bags.
We had breckfast and by the time that was finished it was lunch time. The girls went shopping and I hooked up with Derrick agian and we went on a mission to eat snails which are a big thing out here, we also wanted to try some dog. We found a snail place on the side of the road and ate a big bowl of them with really nice chili dip and cold beer. They were like big Perry Winkles and really good food. Buy the time we had done all this and found out where to go for Dog it was late so we had to head back to the hotel for dinner and the taxi. So I live to try dog another day.
We got the taxi to the Airport and took off from Hanoi at 9.05 PM on the Dot.
We landed in Bangkok 2 hours later and got a 2 taxis, Anna and Christene went to thier houses and Dekkick ,Dee and I grabbed a taxi, Dee and I checked in to a hotel and then we got another taxi to Derricks house across the river. He rents a big 5 story house for peanuts and its a real lads house, ping pong tables, Playstation, bongs, motorbikes and a slight hygene issues.
We met Derricks room mate, a nice guy called Eden who is 'between jobs' at the moment and it was funny to watch Derrick wind him up about the rent. There is a lot of work about but only you have to teach English to young kids instead of young poeple or adults.
We had a few smokes and got the Taxi back to the hotel at 2.30 in the morning. Knackard and happy to be back in the comparitive sanity of bangkok. at least no one rips you off here!!!
We arranged to Meet derrick the next evening for him to show us the town properly which should be great fun.
Vietnam: The south is great, Siagon is lovely. The little towns we visited on the way up were lovely.
Flying to the north and doing Halong bay and Hanoi were a nightmare.
Sapa was amazing and made me glad to have gone through the trouble of going so far north, i.e. China.
So I would advise anyone to go to South Vietnam and enjoy it but the North: use Hanoi ONLY as a day stop to go to Sapa. If you do Halong Bay spend the $$$ to get a good boat. Not one with a crew of pirates and prostitutes.
Oh well, its all in the spirit of adventure : )
