Kolkata

We awoke and quickly changed to a slightly better room in the same place.
We cought some breckfast at a local restraunt and then just wandered around the block.
I am not knocking India, I think its great here but Sudder St. smells like a cross between an abattoir a sewer and a garage. It does get right up your nose. The public toilet in the middle of the street could do with a scrub also, when I say pulic, I mean public. Also heards of goats wander the street and smell a bit.
One end of the street has a lot of homless people living under sheets and I assume that these are the buggers that pester you as you are walking about. Its not as bad as I expected and not physical but it can get to you unless you just block it off. It sounds mean but there are so many people here that are fucked that it would break you down to think about it. Some of the beggers , like Dublin, are fat, have clean clothes and gold hanging of of them. Others though are tragic, particularly the kids and old people. All this has led to a change in our plans which I will get to later.
We went for a stroll to the local Market and a guide insisted on bringing us around. We ended up going into the back of a family shop, buying 2 wall hangs, a few cups of Chai and a block of Charas. Cool.
We legged it back to our home away from home and chilled the rest of the evening.
