Sikkim - Gangkok

We left Darjeeling about 11 in a jeep with 10 people in it, was very cozy. Gangtok was our destination 5 hours away through the mountains. The scenery was fantastic and changed as we went along. A lot of sheer uphill, forests, emerald green rivers and rapids. Beautiful country.
After the 5 hours we got into Gangtok which was unfortunately worse than Darjeeling in terms of weather. We got a nice room with hot water and got warm. We went out that evening, both feeling pretty bad, and had some food.
The town was dark wet and muddy and to be honest pretty depressing. What was annoying is that this place is miles from anywhere and an amazing part of the world but while we were there winter came early and everything was pretty grim, very short days also. Our only options were to look around town for a few days- too wet and icky or to trek for a few days- the views are all obscured by clouds so that’s a no go and the temperature pretty cold.
We ordered some wine on room service and passed out.
