Agra

The Night Train pulled in a few hours late so , after saying good bye to the English people we got a Rickshaw to our hotel which turned out to be pretty nice with a roof restraunt and a direct view of the Taj Majhal about 1Km away. Amazing view , its very odd to see the real thing after seeing it in pictures. From the roof anyway it looks massive and unreal, Perfect condition.
We had arranged for a quick buzz around Agra in the afternoon and we went first to the Baby Taj which is a mausoleam constructed just before the Taj Majhal using the same designs and techniqes but on a smaller scale. It was great as when me and Dee got there we were the only ones there. The Baby Taj is like a jewel it is so perfect in design and contains the remains of the Great Moughal families that were at the peak of power when building all this stuff, from around 1650. Everything is white engraved marble and looks like it was made yesterday. Fantasy Place come real.
After the Baby Taj we crossed mental Agra, agian another over crowded hectic city, to the Red Fort which is a giant Sandstone fort built hundreds of years ago and used by everyone from the Mougals to the British as a base. It was a giant as these places go and very impressive. One part of it has been turned into a palace by Shah Jhan (they guy who built the Taj Majhal as a memorial to his dead wife) It was like the Baby Taj agian and stunning construction. Like a set from Lord of the Rings. This place was the Shah Jhan's Prision in the end when his son siezed power and imprisoned him here in the royal palace in the red fort. He had a little viewing area and you can see the Taj Mjhal in the distance, very romantic and sad etc.

We Rickshawed back to the guest house, our driver was a very nice guy in the end. I was hostile at first to him because basically you have to be hostile most of the time here to uninvited conversation. He was sound and told us all about being a Muslim and how all religions in India (mostly) get on well, he was very welcoming. We got him to drop us at the train station so we could get Train tickets for the day after tomorrow to Delhi. Tomorrow we do the Taj Majhal.

That evening we crashed out early and both of us were absolutly destroyed by mozzies, bastards. They ate us good : (
