Delhi

We got up very early ,it was still dark and took a rickshaw to the train station to carch the express train to Delhi. It was freezing all the way there. We got on our train and got as comfy as possible on a woddwn bench with 4 or 5 people squeezing on. There is no conception of personal space out here, takes a bit of getting use to!
We pulled into Delhi about 11 in the morning. After the usuall feeding frenzy of taxis and touts that happens to you when you step out of a train station with a back pack on, we crossed town in a rickshaw and eventually found a half decent hotel. We had some food and crashed out after our early start.
Delhi to me at this stage looks and sounds like any other large Indian city and to be honest is not that appealing. Amazing noise, pollution, dirt and over crowding. Its full of great sights but we have been through a few cities now and we dont have the inclination to hang around anymore beyond the nessacary! The city is in 2 parts , a maze of an old city, steeped in history and New Delhi, built by the English which is big wide streets, very european. We stayed basically in the middle. We had a few things to do while we were in the big smoke so had to stay here for a day or two.
That evening we had some amazing food at a really posh restraunt on the corner of the block.
A few Beers later and bombed out : )
