Rajasthan

We got to the train in Delhi around 8 to leave at 9 in the morning. It was fine getting across town at that hour, much better than Dublin at 7.30 Usual scenes at the train station as all life seems to congregate there, it seems like India compressed into one place.
We got our seats and luckily the train there was pretty much empty so we could relax the 5 hours to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, which is like a kingdom within India. Land of kings and Warriors and deserts and that sort of thing.
The train ride was nice; the doors were open all the way there. We had the 21-bum salute that you get in India in the mornings from a train, hundreds of people defecating openly along the railway, its funny what you get used to.
We pulled in Jaipur, usual pushy tout/rickshaw driver pressurizing us to read his recommendation books so we could take a tour with him and help him feed his children etc etc. You also become pretty skeptical here to people’s stories, you hear 5 variations an hour.
We went to our first hotel but that was booked out so we wander through Jaipur city, which is a bit different looking with all the sand, pigs and brightly dressed women. We could not find the place we were after so went for lunch to figure out where to go. The waiter told us where to go and we finally found the hotel and got a room there. Was nice there but the food was crap and there was a building site opposite us, there always seems to be these days.
We had an early night and moved the next morning to another hotel which was much nicer overall and had beer in the fridge : )
